Summer Reset: 5 Easy Ways to Organize Your Home this Season

ree

Summer is the season of sunshine, fresh air, and new energy, so why not bring that same spirit into your home? With longer days and (hopefully) lighter schedules, now is the perfect time to declutter, organize, and refresh your space!

Whether you're hosting guests, prepping for a vacation, or just looking to simplify, a summer reset can help your home feel calm, tidy, and ready for anything.

Here are 5 simple ways to get started on organizing your home today:

1. Create a "Summer Station"

Designate a small area near your entryway, mudroom, or laundry room for summer essentials (think sunscreen, bug spray, sunglasses, pool towels, and flip-flops). This grab-and-go zone is perfect if you and your family are on the go this summer! It keeps all items in one centralized location, preventing the last minute “Mom… do you know where [item] is” as you’re running out the door.

2. Declutter During the Season

I guarantee there is at least one piece of summer clothing that you’ve looked at this year and thought, “Wow, I’m not going to wear that again” … so why are you hanging on to it? You don’t need to have a full-blown closet clean out to declutter your space - just donate one or two items that you know for sure are not for you anymore.

3. Simplify Outdoor Spaces

Your patio, balcony, or backyard should feel like an oasis - not a storage shed. Organize garden tools, kids’ toys, and outdoor dining supplies into weatherproof bins. Toss broken or unused items, and invest in storage furniture to maximize space.

4. Create a Travel Zone

Similar to the Summer Station, create a Travel Zone (ie. drawer, bin, shelf, or closet) with all the essentials - travel-sized toiletries, chargers, neck pillows, luggage tags, kids’ games, etc. This helps to streamline packing by keeping all of your go-to items and suitcases in easy-to-find spots.

5. Refresh the Fridge and Pantry

Summer reminds us of the delight of lighter meals and fresh produce, so now’s a great time to clean out the fridge and pantry. Toss expired items, wipe down shelves, and use clear bins or lazy Susans to make snacks and ingredients easy to see and grab.

A little seasonal organization goes a long way toward making your home feel lighter, calmer, and more functional. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or want to take these tasks off your plate, our team of professional organizers is here to help you make the most of your space this summer!
